A slice of Queen Elizabeth II wedding cake was sold for a whopping £2.2k in a recent auction.
The 77 year old cake was discovered in a bag under Polson bed, the cake was said to have been used to entertain over 2000 guest then at the wedding event.
In reaction to the cake sales, James Grinter was impressed saying the cake which was projected to be sold for £500 was later sold in just a phone call for a whopping £2.2k. “it’s a glorious cake”
A slice of the newly wed queens cake was giving to then house keeper Polson as a thanks,and she kept it under her bed for over several decades till her death and was discovered alongside some of her treasuries under her bed.
It was also noted that the was on its original form when discovered and also with a letter in 1947 from the queen bolding writing how happy she and her husband was for the kind gesture of the cake presented on her wedding.
She also went ahead to express how satisfied she and her guest were for the choice of colour used and how beautiful it was.
Magnificent Cake
The wedding cake was designed as 4 steps decorated with alcohol in 1947.
One rare thing about this slice was the fact that after decades it still maintain its original form.
Though Grinter made it clear and admired that despite the originality of the cake he can’t afford to eat it.
