In a significant victory against organized armed violence, Nigerian security forces have killed about 30  gunmen during a coordinated operation in the country’s northwest region.

The raid which lasted for hours, led jointly by the military and police, came in response to a recent wave of attacks on rural communities in the northern part of Nigeria. According to official reports, several hideouts were raided, and a cache of weapons was recovered in most of the hideout.

While the mission was largely successful, the Nigerian Police Force confirmed the loss of three officers and two soldiers during the engagement.

This operation is part of the government’s intensified efforts to combat banditry and rural insurgency, which have plagued parts of Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna states for years.

Officials have promised continued action to restore safety and stability in the affected regions.
