Hershey’s Park: Lifeguard and the tragic passing of a 9 years old child At The Park; So painful…

On the 24th day of July, a tragic occurrence took place on Boardwalk at Hershey park. A child of 9 years of age was spotted at the big wave pool helplessly, immediately the lifeguard was signaled he rushed for help but unfortunately the child didn’t survive and was pronounced dead at the Medical center.

How it all happened.

The wave pool at Hershey’s park is about 370,000 liters on water making it a very large pool with about 6ft depth, on that faithful evening while parents and kid were having fun, the Lifeguards sighted a child who was in distress and helpless, they rushed immediately to safe the child followed up with CPR and commence treatment immediately with the available medical equipment.

According to eyewitness and the lifeguard, the child was rescued outside the water and rushed to the hospital but was unable to revive the child.

The CEO of Hershey park John Lawn, reached out to the family of the deceased and extended his condolences. Guest safety and wellbeing is our priority he said, he promise to carryout a thorough investigation internally as he work with the right authorities.

The department of Derry police have issues a memo saying they are currently investigating the incident.

The Hershey wave pool is closed down temporarily by the management to show respect and sympathise with the deceased family.

The lifeguard and it’s safety measures

When the incident occured over 95 lifeguard were presently on duty taken safety measures all over the boardwalk, and 10 lifeguard were placed at the wave pool among all have adequate training in CPR, deep water rescue first aid and oxygen administration but unfortunately, despite this whole guard on ground the child still couldn’t survive.

Some of the witnessed who saw how it all happened was traumatized, they said after seeing the child being pulled out of the wave pool that it was a scene that they will never forget.

Since the operations of the Hershey’s park 1977, this is the first casualty after a maintenance worker was fatally injured while the coaster operation was ongoing.

Looking forward

Loss of life is not something anyone can forget so quick it’s not always easy to bear especially to the deceased family and love ones and also workers and visitors of the park there present.
The management have promised to work more on their safety protocol.

As the management and other state authorities are carrying out their investigation we hope all lesson have being learned and every guest should try work on there safety, follow due process and obey every instructions from the Lifeguards at the park.
